Due to the predicted snowstorm, we will be leaving for Quebec an hour earlier than planned. Please be at the high school at 4 a.m. for departure by 5 a.m.

The student information packet for the Quebec trip was due at the January 12 parent meeting. If you have not turned the form in, you must do so immediately. Contact Tom Meyer at 973-272-8695 or tripchairman@yahoo.com to make arrangements to deliver the paperwork.

Important dates to remember:

• January 10, 2010: Fourth trip payment of $200 is due

• January 12, 2010: Student information form due at Band Parent meeting. Form must be notarized. Notaries will be available at meeting, but both parents must be present to sign. Download form as Word document or pdf
  
• February 2, 2010: Trip Information Meeting. All students going on trip must attend with one parent

1. Glove liners and shoe covers for the parade and outdoor concerts/p>

2. Thermal wicking socks -- thicker is not always better

• Make sure band shoes still fit
• Blisters are a big problem if shoes are too tight
• Several pairs

3. Several light layers for out and about time

• Fleece
• Silk
• Turtlenecks
• Thermals, top and bottom -- black for the parade. Make sure uniform still fits, thighs, bottom, etc. No jeans or sweats under uniform.
• No blue jeans without layer underneath

4. Outerwear jacket with down or Thinsulate, etc., that covers bottom, snow pants (see if they can borrow a pair)

5. Waterproof/resistant boots

• No sneakers except for hotel time
• slip-resistant bottoms

6. Sunblock, lip stuff, sunglacces

7. Several extra pairs of regular socks for hotel time

Dear Band Parents:

This is to inform you that the band trip committee has put together a trip to Quebec, Canada for the Winter Carnival Festival. The dates are February 10 to February 15, 2010.

The total cost is $ 975.00, with the first $300 deposit due October 10.

This first payment must be made by check or money order. If your son or daughter is a returning player, you cannot use any accumulated funds from the Individual Trip Account (ITA). This out-of-pocket disbursement demonstrates your commitment to the trip.

Payments will be made in four installments and are due on time so we can pay the travel agent.

• October 10 - $300 - initial deposit - check or money order only
• November 10 - $300 - installment #2 - check, money order, or ITA escrow
• December 10 - $175 - installment #3 - check, money order, or ITA escrow
• January 10 - $ 200 - final installment - check, money order, or ITA escrow

With the exception of the final installment, payments can be made at the monthly Band Parent meetings. They may also be mailed to Mrs. Elise Alvarez, 4 Lorraine Drive, Clifton 07012.

Payments are NOT to be handled by students, and parents are responsible for making payments on time. Checks should be made payable to CHS PTSA Mustang Band Committee.

Each participant on this trip will be required to bring a photo ID with them. A United States Passport is the recommended form of identification.
